CHPAMS Newsletter is a monthly e-newsletter from the China Health Policy and Management Society (CHPAMS). The Newsletter serves as a communication platform to provide updates and activities related to CHPAMS and information of potential interest for CHPAMS members.                                                                                           

CHPAMS Activities

Members' Corner

University at Buffalo Obesity Research Team, headed by epidemiologist and childhood obesity expert Dr. Youfa Wang, partners with NASA to Design, Implement, and Evaluate Global Obesity Prevention Programs. [Link]

Dr. Liang Wang, in the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health published a new study that identified the risk factors for adolescent obesity in southern Appalachia.   The article “Prevalence of and Risk Factors for Adolescent Obesity in Southern Appalachia, 2012” was published in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease. [Link]

Special Announcements

Call for Papers, Special issue of Nutrition Discovery on Non-communicable Chronic Diseases (NCDs)

The Nutrition Discovery is planning a special issue for non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs). Manuscripts of original research articles (text <3000 words), review articles (<4000 words), and brief reports (<1500 words) are invited for review in all aspects of the NCDs including cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructed pulmonary disease and asthma), and mental health disorders that are related to nutrition.

Submissions are due by February 28, 2015, using the online submission system at http://www.nutr-discovery.com/submitarticle.asp.  Please review the Nutrition Discovery website at http://www.nutr-discovery.com/ for submission guidelines. Call for Papers - Kunshan Forum

The Globle Health Research Center of Duke Kunshan University will hold the 1st Kunshan Forum on May 29-30, 2015. The main theme of the conference is on Non-communicable Diseases and Health System Reforms in China. The deadline to submit the abstract of a research article is March 31, 2015. The Forum will select 40 to 50 papers for an oral presentation at the concurrent sessions. The time length of each concurrent session is 90 minutes and each session will have three paper presentations by authors and comments by three discussants. The empirical studies using data obtained from China will be given priority, but other empirical studies using data from other countries with relevant policy implications for China are also encouraged to submit. Young researchers are especially encouraged to apply. No poster presentation will be accepted. The abstracts (in English) have to be sent to the following email address: chee.ruey.hsieh@duke.edu

REGISTRATION: April 30, 2015.

ACCOMMODATION and TRAVEL EXPENSES: The Forum will cover the speaker’s costs of hotel (at Fairmont), food and local transportation (up to 3-nights). However, speakers have to cover their own travel expenses.

Call for Papers - Health Care Governance Forum 2015 – integrated prevention and management of diabetes in primary care settings (2015 健康治理论坛-基层糖尿病的综合防治与管理)

The main theme of the conference is on the integrated prevention and management of diabetes, conducting research from perspectives of economics, management science, clinical medicine and sociology to address challenges of diabetes management. The deadline to submit a research article is February 15, 2015. Dr. Ning Yi will attend the conference as CHPAMS representative. CHPAMS also encourages our members in Beijing to attend the conference.
