CHPAMS Newsletter is a monthly e-newsletter from the China Health Policy and Management Society (CHPAMS). The Newsletter serves as a communication platform to provide updates and activities related to CHPAMS and information of potential interest for CHPAMS members.

CHPAMS Ongoing Conference Activities 

·        CHPAMS Forums will be held at Chinese Economist Society (CES) Annual Meeting in Chongqing, China, June 13-14th, 2015. For more details of the conference, please visit: http://www.china-ces.org/.  

·        CHPAMS is working with China Medical Board (CMB) and Zhejiang University School of Medicine to organize the Westlake Youth Forum 2015 on June 15-18th in Hangzhou, China. Westlake Youth Forum provides excellent educational and networking opportunities to junior public health and health policy scholars in China and oversea. Special Announcement 

Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford recently launched a new website featuring the re-alignment of health system incentives to improve affordable and effective healthcare project which was initiated in the context of China’s health reform since 2009. The project is led by Dr. Winnie Yep at University of Oxford and Dr. William Hsiao from Harvard School of Public Health, in collaboration with Fudan University, Peking University Health Science Center, and Ningxia Medical University. Member’s Corner

·         CHPAMS member Dr. Liang Wang, an Assistant Professor at College of Public Health, East Tennessee University, was recently nominated for “Mentor of the Year Award”, which is “presented each year at the Compact for Faculty Diversity Institute on Teaching and Mentoring” to recognize “faculty members who have provided outstanding service as mentors to doctoral scholars in the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) State Doctoral Scholars Program”. ·         CHPAMS member Dr. Donglan Zhang recently published a manuscript at journal PLOS ONE in collaboration with Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, Shanghai Jiaotong University:  “Association between Physical Activity and Teacher-Reported Academic Performance among Fifth-Graders in Shanghai: A Quantile Regression”. The study was funded by multiple institutes including Chinese National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Health and Shanghai Municipal Committee of Education. Big congratulations to Donglan! 

·         CHPAMS member Yanfang Su, PhD candidate at Harvard School of Public Health, recently published two manuscripts in collaboration with School of Public Policy and Administration, Xi’an Jiaotong University:  “The impact of China’s Zero-Markup Drug Policy on county hospital revenue and government subsidy levels” at Journal of Asian Public Policy and “The financial impact of the 'Zero-markup Policy for Essential Drugs' on patients in county hospitals in western rural China” at journal PLOS ONE. The study was funded by National Natural Science Fund of China, Shaanxi Social Science Fund and China Medical Board (CMB). Big congratulations to Yanfang!
